Fall 2017 Preschool Storytime: Weeks Two and Three 9/12/17 & 9/19/17

A little behind in posting the preschool storytime outlines!  We are continuing with our math skills in storytime, covering addition and subtraction.  I introduced the families to the ten frame, something they will definitely see when their little ones are in kindergarten.  It's a way for kids to visually see the concepts of adding and subtracting as well as more and fewer.  We made a fun game with it, using a laminated copy of a ten frame that I printed out and bingo markers.  You can also put bean bags down on the floor and count them.  Then you toss down a hula hoop on top, and anything inside the hoop you "take away".  Subtraction can be a challenging thing to teach/explain, and seeing it visually in this manner can make it a little easier for them to grasp.
