Winter 2019 Music & Movement Storytime: Week One 1-2-19

So my first storytime of 2019 was an extra special one for me because I had two awesome assistants - my daughters!  They are 5 1/2 and 7, so they are now the "big kids" which they absolutely loved.  There was a tiny army of kiddos who followed them around!  My 7 year old was a huge help to me because I had been getting over a wicked cold/flu and still was getting my strength and voice back.  She got to take on a teacher role and did an amazing job.  Super proud mom moment!  The highlight for both of my girls was giving stamps to the kids at the end of the program.  You would have thought it was Christmas all over again!

The Power of Music

Music is awesome!  It's no secret to anyone who knows me that I love using music in my storytimes.  The more the better!  Music and Movement storytime is my absolute favorite program to lead.  Music is so powerful.  It contributes so much to a child's development and overall well-being.  This will tell you why.  Bonus that it's from The Wiggles, a source of a lot of my storytime songs.  Play some music and have yourself a dance party!

Fall 2018 Preschool Storytime: Week Twelve 11/20/18

What unites humanity?  This is a question often posed and philosophized (if not a word, then I am making it one!) among the masses.  Well this morning I found the answer.  I have found the great equalizer.  Are you ready?

BUBBLES!

Bringing bubbles into a storytime instantly makes everyone happy and unites them in a shared joy.  Bubbles rule.  Leading an entire storytime with a Bubble/Bathtime theme might be one of my best ideas ever!  Throw in skunk and woolly mammoth puppets and now you have a party!  Needless to say we had a blast this morning.

Fall 2018 Preschool Storytime: Week Eleven 11/13/18

Today we tackled one of life's greatest debates...cats vs. dogs!  It was a fairly even split when all was said and done.  We also talked about other animals that can be pets, some of which were represented by friends from our puppet collection.  It was another awesome day with the kiddos.  Only a few more weeks until our December break.
