Our math skill today talked about the concept of more and fewer, a new way of saying greater than and less than. This is something that my daughter has been working on in kindergarten. In addition to being able to talk about what it means, she also needs to show what it means. This involves coloring in blocks on a ten frame or using actual objects (in her case marbles) to show what has more or what has fewer. We also went a step further and introduced the concept of volume. I put 100 mini pom poms into two different sized containers with one looking like it has more inside. This will show how the same number of objects can appear very different.
