Fall 2017 Preschool Storytime: Week Ten 11/7/17

It was a quieter day in storytime this morning, but we still rocked it out!  Our first book, Lady Pancake and Sir French Toast made us all extremely hungry!  It's the latest in a long line of food themed books that I like to use in storytime.  That might be it's own post one day!  The math skill of the week was 2D shapes, or the "flat" shapes.  Next week we tackle the "fat" shapes, A.K.A. 3D shapes.  Fat vs. flat was a way that they were described during a workshop I attended, and it helps illustrate things nicely in a way that the little ones can understand.  Our activity was not only a shape activity, but it really encouraged listening and following directions, skills that they will definitely need to have for kindergarten.  After storytime, I put out shape mats that I created and had the kids use playdough and clay to make the different shapes.  It quickly turned into "Miss Jen see what I can build using every color of clay on the table!"  Either way, they had fun.
