So I am definitely behind on this post. I had every intention of putting this all together before the end of the year, but with illnesses hitting me and my family along with regular holiday madness, it didn't happen. I wanted to recap the past year of my library life because it was absolutely one I want to remember, probably my favorite year yet. It was my first full calendar year at my new library. Can I really still call it my new library considering I've been here 19 months? Of course having worked somewhere for 10 years, I guess a year and a half is still pretty new! Anyway...
For starters, in 2017 my staff and I led 300 storytimes with 10,694 attending! That is an average of 36 per session which is great. Taking into account that we only have storytimes 9 months out of the year, I am SUPER pumped about these numbers. We have gotten a lot of great feedback from our storytime families, and we all love what we do. I know I sometimes feel like pinching myself mid program because I can't believe I get paid to do it! In 2017 we led a total of 542 programs. This includes storytimes, special programs, and outreach visits. A total of 15,546 attended which is an average of 29 per program. These are also numbers I am super excited about. We were consistently in the top 5 out of 27 branches for program attendance each month, often in the top 2 or 3. My super competitive side is gunning for #1 in 2018! Ha ha! We had a variety of programs for all ages in 2017 and have already scheduled an even better mix for the first half of 2018 that I am really excited about.
Here are some highlights for each month of some of my favorite programs. Each month we also had meetings of Preschool STEAM Club, Kid Creators or Block Stars, and Marvelous Minecrafters. We also added a monthly SCRATCH Club towards the end of the year. I also had the opportunity to present at several conferences throughout the year as part of Ohio Library Council and Northeast Ohio Regional Library System events.
