Yay!!! Storytimes are back!!! I made some adjustments to my format for the Winter 2018 session. For starters instead of math activities I am adding sight words and letters of the day along with including an app called Endless Alphabet. That's not to say I'm not going to include math activities should the opportunity arise. The Kaboom game I am including this session is based on something I found on Pinterest (oh magical Pinterest...) where you write down things on popsicle sticks and include some with KABOOM on them. It can be anything from math problems to sight words, but in my case I wrote down actions that the kids act out during a rhyme. For Kaboom, they get to explode. This was a HUGE hit BTW. :) After storytime I am giving the kids a Lego building challenge each week. This week they created castles with some making up stories to go along with them!
Here are the rhymes I am using this session.
Elevator Song
Tune: Do Your Ears Hang Low?
Oh, the city is great and the city is grand (Stand up and dance with a bouncy step)There are lots of tall buildings
On a little piece of land
We live way up on the fifty-seventh floor
And this is what we do
When we go out the door
Take the elevator up, take the elevator down (3 times) (lift baby up, lower baby down)Then we spin around (spin around)
I Look Through My Window
Children, Children,
_____ at me! (Use actions from the Kaboom game such as marching, jumping, bouncing, etc.)
Popcorn Kernels
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=myp8OjcE-rg
Tune: Frere Jacques
Popcorn kernels, popcorn kernels,
In the pot, in the pot,
Shake them, shake them, shake them,
Shake them, shake them, shake them,
Til they pop! Til they pop!
