Awesome new book alert!

So I was sitting at the reference desk this morning looking at some of the new books that have come in, and I discovered an absolutely beautiful book with an amazing message that I think everyone should read.

The book Come with me by Holly M. McGhee and illustrated by Pascal Lemaitre speaks a message that is so important during these troubling and challenging times in our world.  It embraces the importance of being kind, treating others with respect, and how simple acts can make such a positive difference in the world.  It is told in such a way that it is easy for little ones to understand.  I will be reading this to my girls at bedtime tonight and in storytimes next week for sure!

From the inside cover:

"As the news tells and tells and retells of anger and hatred, a little girl asks her parents what she can do to make the world a better place.

'Come with me,' says her papa.
'Come with me,' says her mama.

One step at a time, the little girl begins to understand that her part, as small as it may seem, matters to the world.

From author, Holly M. McGhee and illustrator Pascal Lemaitre comes this powerful and timely story of kindness, bravery, and friendship in the face of intolerance and uncertainty."

Fall 2017 Preschool Storytime: Week One 9-5-17

Yay!  We're back in action!  That August storytime break seemed a bit longer than usual this year.  Everyone was eagerly awaiting the return of storytimes, myself included!  This time around I am adding things like letter of the day and math topic of the day as well as a nursery rhyme.  It's amazing how many kids don't know nursery rhymes anymore.  For today's math topic, we talked about the concept of counting and how counting to 20 and identifying numbers 1-20 by sight is an important skill for kindergarten.  The kids loved counting out the number of balls that was on each card and putting them into a basket.  It was something so simple, but very fun and very important.  It's great to be back.  It's going to be a very fun fall!
