Summer 2018 Preschool Storytime: Week Four 6/26/18

Wow, did we have fun today!  This week's author is Laura Numeroff, probably best known for If You Give a Mouse a Cookie.  Parents were pleased to discover just how many books she has with this similar style.  It was fun to read the books and ask the kids to predict what each animal would ask for next.  Some of the answers were highly entertaining!  The song we used for our colors review, "The Color Freeze Dance" was also a big hit with the kiddos, and they really liked watching the little aliens go through the same motions that they were doing!

Get Moving, Get Grooving: Preschool

So apparently I just can't get enough of Music and Movement programs, so I created another special program in a similar vein with a little more emphasis on dance and fitness.  I held the first one today for preschoolers with a school-age one scheduled for next month.  For preschool I kept a little bit of a familiar storytime structure with activity stations, an obstacle course, and a dance finale at the end of the program.  We had a blast.

Summer 2018 Music & Movement Storytime Week One: 6/6/18

Ain't no party like a storytime party 'cuz a storytime party don't stop!  Yowza, my kiddos were wired for sound this morning.  Thank heavens for Starbucks Dark Roast Plus with 2X caffeine!  A lot of the parents told me that the kids would ask daily when it was time for storytime again.  I missed them so much.  What an awesome group they are.

Today happens to be my two-year anniversary at my new branch, although I guess it's not really that new to me anymore!  I am so blessed to work at such a wonderful library.  It's been an amazing two years.  I definitely partied to celebrate!

Summer 2018 Preschool Storytime Week One: 6-5-18

I'm back!  Wow, time got away from me!  I had every intention of posting things during our May storytime hiatus, but between school visits, summer program planning, and taking some vacation days for preschool and kindergarten graduations it unfortunately didn't happen.

But I'm back now, and ready for summer!  This year's Summer Reading theme is "Libraries Rock!", so you know I'm loving it!  I'm adding a lot of special songs and themed activities to programs, so stay tuned!
